Hello! I’m Hernan Chousa

Being a sports parent has been an enriching and challenging journey. Watching my child develop their athletic skills and passion for a sport has brought me immense joy and pride. However, it can be hard sailing, and sports parenting has unique responsibilities and lessons.

One of the most important aspects of sports parenting is providing unwavering support. Encouraging my child, attending their games, and cheering them on, win or lose, has been essential in building their confidence and resilience. It’s about letting them know that my love is not tied to their performance but to their commitment and effort.

Additionally, sports parenting has taught me the value of balance. It’s crucial to strike a healthy equilibrium between pushing my child to improve and allowing them to enjoy the sport without undue pressure. This balance fosters a positive and sustainable athletic experience.

Communication is another critical element. Open and honest discussions about their goals, setbacks, and desires in sports help me understand their needs better. Being a supportive listener has strengthened our parent-child bond and ensured they feel heard and valued.

Ultimately, sports parenting is about nurturing not only their athletic abilities but also their character. It’s an ongoing journey of instilling values like discipline, teamwork, and perseverance. While it can be challenging at times, the rewards of watching my child grow both on and off the field make it all worthwhile.
